The Blame Game
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
When my children were little they would like to say but my sister/brother told me to do it. In our house as the blaming became a part of our lives one day I said “don’t be a blamethrower,” Well that got everyone’s attention. We had a good laugh about it and it was an easy reminder to the children to take ownership in what they had done.
When God asked Adam “Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” Adam blamed God and Eve, “The woman you put here with me.” And then Eve blamed the serpent, When asked the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
Wow no wonder we are so good at blaming everyone but ourselves, it’s in our nature! Let’s lead by example and practice saying only the truth without adding on, I didn’t sleep well last night, I would have come if it wasn’t raining, you make me so angry that is why I said that, etc… Oh, Great and Glorious God, Maker of the Universe help me to say what is true and not add an excuse!
Worship
Matthew 21:16
Do you hear what these children are saying?” they asked him.
“Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read,
“‘From the lips of children and infants
you, Lord, have called forth your praise?”
God has called our children to praise Him and we have the opportunity to give them time to cultivate their calling. Make a joyful noise and encourage them in praise.
Supplies:
- TV or a music account and a speaker
- worship scarves
- instruments
Everyone needs to be up, standing on their feet, including teachers and helpers. Children naturally look to the adults in the room and mimic their behavior. Place the bucket of instruments and scarves in the middle of the room and have the children and adults pick an instrument. Start the music and encourage the children to worship the Lord with dance, instruments and song.
NOTE: Sometimes the pink scarves can cause trouble with the girls in your class. Lots of tears 😦 trying to keep a worship filled environment is difficult at this point. Either hide the offensive pink scarf or buy enough pick scarfs for each little girl.
Here are 3 creation songs that your children will enjoy!

- Most young children cannot write yet. Their hands are not developed until 4 or 5yrs. To help a small child with writing you can write the answer with a highlighter for them. Then they can attempt to write each letter on top of the highlighted letters.
- Also write their names and encourage them to write on top of the highlighted letters.
- Give them time to color the worksheet.
